Adding an RTMP(S) channel
RTMP and its secured version RTMP(S) are the most common protocols used for live streaming. Most of the live streaming channels offer access via these protocols and this can be easily configured using our Pivo Live app. You can add an RTMP channel with the following steps:
- Select RTMP in the Add channel screen.
- Fill in the mandatory information:
- Stream Name: The name you'd like to use to identify the channel
- Stream URL: This can be obtained from the channel you'd like to stream to. You can either copy the URL from the channel directly or choose from the dropdown list (only major channels available)
- Stream Key: This can be obtained from the channel you'd like to stream to - Click on More to include additional settings, if applicable:
- Target type: Some channels require authorization, and this can be enabled here. You can choose between default (no authorization) or RTMP authorization.
- Login: The login/username used for the authorization
- Password: The password used for the authorization - Click on the Gear icon
on the top right-hand corner of the screen to adjust the general live stream settings. Click here to learn more about how you can adjust the live stream settings.
- Once you're done, click on the Add button at the bottom of the screen to save the channel and return to the home screen.
Note: The detailed step-by-step instructions on how to add specific channels (major channels) to Pivo Live can be found here.
Adding an SRT channel
SRT is another streaming protocol that's available on Pivo Live that caters more to the semi-professional live streaming users. It provides the user an easy solution to use Pivo's Auto Tracking feature with Open Broadcaster Studio (OBS) software. Follow the steps below to add an SRT channel:
- Select SRT in the Add channel screen.
- Fill in the mandatory information:
- Stream Name: The name you'd like to use to identify the channel
- Stream URL: This can be obtained from the channel you'd like to stream to. You can either copy the URL from the channel directly or choose from the dropdown list (only major channels available)
- Stream Key: Leave it empty or type the word empty because SRT doesn't require stream key - Click on More to include additional settings, if applicable:
- SRT sender mode: This is set to Caller on Pivo Live by default. The channel platform receiving the SRT stream must be set to Listener
- Latency (millisecond): This is the delay time for the data to get to its final destination. It's set as 120 ms by default on Pivo Live. This specific delay time will give the packet the extra time to recover if it's lost during transmission.
- Passphrase: A password with a minimum of 10 characters is required if encryption is used
- PBkeylen: The key length if encryption is used. The default will be 16, but it can be set to 16, 24, and 32.
- Maximum bandwidth (bytes per second): The maximum output bandwidth that is allowed to be used by the stream. It's recommended to leave it as 0 (because this is the most stabilized bandwidth for Pivo Live) - Click on the Add button at the bottom of the screen to save the channel and return to the home screen.
Note: Smartphone & desktop/laptop should be using the same network. And check out this article to learn how to use Pivo Live with OBS software.
