What is Video Mode?
Video Mode is the default mode of Pivo Arena. Unlike the standard video recording feature on your smartphone camera, Pivo Arena Video Mode is enhanced with the Auto Tracking feature that automatically follows your horse and rider while you move — giving you hands-free, professional-quality footage every time.
Getting Started
The Pivo Arena app will open the Home Screen by default. In the top section of the screen you have a quick button called Start new session, tap this, or click the Capture (+) button in the bottom navigation and select Start Ride.
You will now get a choice to record your ride using the video mode or pocket mode. Choose Video recording and fill in the optional information about your horse and your planned ride if you like. In the next step, you connect to your Pivo Pod, and/or your other Pivo devices if any.
Once the smartphone is connected to the Pivo Pod, you'll be brought to the capture screen. Hit the Shutter button to start recording.
Horse Tracking
When connected to a Pivo Pod, the capture mode will be set to Horse Tracking by default. The Horse tracking searches for a horse and rider within the camera view and follows its movements.
To select or change your tracking mode:
- Tap the icon to the left of the Shutter button to open the list of Tracking Modes.
- Choose your preferred tracking mode (e.g. Horse Tracking).
- When a Tracking mode is selected, a message will appear confirming it is searching for the target. This notification will disappear and be replaced with a red box as soon as the tracking target is found.
Tracking Presets & Settings
In Pivo Arena, there are two ways to customise your Tracking Settings:
- Your Setup – A list of pre-configured settings for the most common equestrian activities.
- Manual Settings – Manually adjust settings based on your specific use case.
Other Settings
You can customise your video-taking experience using the settings at the top of the screen:
Tracking
- Tracking Window – Limits the rotation of the pod to make sure that the camera stays inside the arena at all times.
Camera
- Front Camera – Toggle between front and back camera by tapping the Switch Camera icon.
Note: The default, back, camera is always recommended when using Horse Tracking.
- Grid – Helps you get a level shot. Disabled by default; tap to turn on.
- Flash – Toggle flash on or off.
- Timer – Gives you a 3-second countdown before recording begins.
- Keep screen awake - Stops your screen from going into battery save mode during a recording.
- Microphone - Records audio to your video.
Recording a Video
Once you've configured your settings, press the Shutter button to start recording. The recording time will appear just above the Shutter button.
Press the Shutter button again to stop recording.
After your recording
When your recording is done and you exit the capture screen, a summary of your ride will follow. In this view you can preview your video, tag your ride, rate it and add notes to your journal. All information will be saved in your timeline.
