Recording Video Without a Pivo Pod
While Pivo Arena is designed to work seamlessly with the Pivo Pod for hands-free auto tracking, you can also use Pivo Arena to record video without a Pivo Pod connected.
This is useful when:
- You want to capture footage using just your smartphone.
- Your Pod is not available or is charging.
- You're recording in a location where a Pod setup isn't practical.
How to Record Without a Pod
- Open the Pivo Arena app.
- From the Home screen, tap the Capture (+) button or the Start new session shortcut, and select Start Ride.
- On the Setup screen, skip the connection step and just click Start ride.
- You'll be taken to the capture screen in Video Mode.
- Use your phone's standard camera controls to frame your shot.
- Press the Shutter button to start recording.
- Press the Shutter button again to stop.
Note: Auto Tracking is not available when recording without a Pivo Pod. The camera will remain stationary unless you manually move it.
What's Still Available Without a Pod?
Even without a Pod connected, you can still use the following features in Video Mode:
- Timer countdown
- Grid overlay
- Flash
- Front/back camera switch etc.
You will be able to tag your recording afterwards and it will be saved in your timeline.
Tips
- Mount your phone on a standard tripod for stable, hands-free footage.
- Position your phone at the short side of the arena for the best full-arena view.
- Use the grid overlay to ensure your phone is level.
